Work under the sun

What's under the sun ? Meaning doing things without God's directions. Self centered and selfish. Ecc 2:17

Make God is the centre of it all. It about God not self.

Serve Him within his world. Diligence and dedication in one Everyday life are a proper response to God.

God wants us to experience significance in success. Ecc 3: 9-10. How to seek success. Look for things above the sun. Finding the fulfilment of life

Be distinguished - noticed that you are different. Putting our best at work.

Yahweh and not my way

Trust God and let God take charge. When you choose God's way and not your way.

Testimony from a fellow Brother, he took one year away from work to do mission work. He was worried as he was doing so well but ended he followed for God direction, he gain significantly at the mission trip and came back to find himself with more fulfilling life and landed with an even greater purpose career.

It's about meaning not money

Ecc 3:12-13

There is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. Find satisfaction in all their toil - this is a gift of God

Whatever the nature of your work, let's do our work with meaning and greatness. Bring glory to God in whatever you do.

Fix our eyes on the Lord

What does it mean to walk in faith?

What does it mean to live by faith?

Our faith will be tested. How to test our faith without trials and tribulations?

Abraham is being tested

Genesis 12:1-3 to leave the country
To give his wife sarah a son at the age of 90
Genesis 22 To sacrifice his son

Why bad things happen?

God intended it for good. Tribulations make us grow stronger and wiser. Lets grow through setbacks

A story to share :

One day the King and His slave went hunting, and along the way a wild animal attacked the king. His slave managed to kill the animal, but could not prevent His
Majesty from losing a finger.

Furious and without showing his gratitude for being saved, the Nobleman asked:

"Is God good? If He was good, I would not have been attacked and lost my finger."

The slave replied:

"My King, despite all these things, I can only tell you that God is good, and he knows why these things happened. What God does is perfect. He
is never wrong!"

Outraged by the response, the King ordered the arrest of his slave.

Later, the King left for another hunt, but this time alone. He was captured by savages who engaged in human sacrifices.

On the altar and ready to sacrifice the Nobleman, the savages discovered that their victim did not have one of his fingers. According to them, only
a whole person with all his/her parts intact could be offered to the gods. The King without a finger was deemed an abominable sacrifice for their
gods. So they released the King

Upon his return to the palace, the King authorized the release of his slave. He received the slave affectionately.

He asked his slave, "My dear, God was really good to me! I was almost killed by the wild men, but for lack of a single finger, I was let go! But I have a question: If God is so good, why did he allow me to put you in jail?"

The slave answered, "My King, if I had gone with you on this hunt, I would have been sacrificed instead because I have no missing finger. Remember everything God does is perfect. He is never wrong. He made you keep me
in jail so I would not be with you on the hunt."

Often we complain about life, and negative things that happen to us, forgetting that nothing is random and that everything has a purpose.

Weekend of worship 7 Aug 2016 Grace 2

We look to God for protection

Love others: Honour in family

Breakdown in marriages
Conflict in family

Family should be a foundation for all. To restore peace and harmony in the family.
Ephesian6:1-9
Children, obey and Honor your parents
Fathers, bring guidance and training
Slaves, obey and serve masters
Masters, treat slaves fairly
Exodus 20:12

Whats honor - to give importance, to give respect.

What if the parents are unkind and hurtful to us,
Honoring our parents is not about their performance.
God loves all imperfect and His job on them are not finished. Love is unconditional. Breaking down the wall between parents - you must first forgive them and honor them.
Its a step of faith and obedience

10 commandment
First 4 - relationship with God
Next 6 - relationship with others

One of the commandment is
Honor your parent

Its a command with priority

As our parents will get old and we should do this command when they are still alive. Hence this command will "expire" once they are gone. Its with priority

Its a command with promise in returned
Ephesian 6:2-3
If you do this command, your days will be lightened and will be lengthened

You shall not covet:
Exodus 20:17 “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male servant, or his female servant, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor’s”

A week to be grateful and thankful for

Happy for :

1) Able to organise and co-ordinate 2 national day event for IMH and MINDs with a team of passionate volunteers and Instructors. God truly has blessed and surrounded me with sincere and great friendships.

2) Able to spend today peacefully at work. No hiccups and no major issue

3) Able to meet with the charity committee to share our upcoming charitable efforts and obtain mugs as gifts for invited speakers

4) Able to visit a dentist for our routine cleaning

5) Able to meet Emily and her daughters for lunch. Thankful that she brought the new chapter vitamins for me from USA.

I am grateful and thankful this week. All glory to God

Commitment

Marriage is a commitment. Nurturing a.baby is an even bigger commitment

People who expect that life continues to be the same as their singlehood after marriage and having a child, are just naive.

Every parent has to play their part. Sacrifices have to be made and not expecting to be free and fine to do their own things.

That's how it works. First get this right and then freedom will come eventually

Weekend of worship at Grace 2

1 Peter 4:8

Above all, love each other deeply because love covers over a multitude of sins.

Loving one another is most important in the Christian Life

The greatest is love - 1 corinthians 13:13

Deep and intense love - fervent love

Story of the porcupines staying together during winter to keep warm but their spines hurt one another.

When you married your spouse, you realised more of his/her flaws and it hurt you but continue to love fervently

How to love in this imperfect world?

1. Accept one another

Romans 14:1to Romans 15:7 The Weak and the Strong

14 Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters

The one who eats everything must not treat with contempt the one who does not, and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who does, for God has accepted them.Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall. And they will stand, for the Lord is able to make them stand.

One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind.Whoever regards one day as special does so to the Lord. Whoever eats meat does so to the Lord, for they give thanks to God;and whoever abstains does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God. For none of us lives for ourselves alone, and none of us dies for ourselves alone. If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living.

10 You, then, why do you judge your brother or sister[a]? Or why do you treat them with contempt? For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat. 11 It is written:

“‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord,
‘every knee will bow before me;
    every tongue will acknowledge God.’”[b]

12 So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God.

13 Therefore let us stop passing judgmenton one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in the way of a brother or sister.14 I am convinced, being fully persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean in itself. But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for that person it is unclean.15 If your brother or sister is distressed because of what you eat, you are no longer acting in love. Do not by your eating destroy someone for whom Christ died.16 Therefore do not let what you know is good be spoken of as evil. 17 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peaceand joy in the Holy Spirit, 18 because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and receives human approval.

19 Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification. 20 Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All food is clean, but it is wrong for a person to eat anything that causes someone else to stumble. 21 It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause your brother or sister to fall.

22 So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the one who does not condemnhimself by what he approves. 23 But whoever has doubts is condemned if they eat, because their eating is not from faith; and everything that does not come from faith is sin.

2. Bear with one another. Tolerate and be patient. Love is patient Love is kind Corinthians 13:4-5

Ephesian 4:2

Unity and Maturity in the Body of Christ

As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one anotherin love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism;one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all

3. Forgive one another - to let go, to pardon

Are you waiting for people to apologise to you ? TKK - tan Ku ku (slang - wait long long)

Colossians 3:12-17

12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Psalms 103:2-3
