Cambodia - Phnom Penh 12 - 15 October 2013

Will be heading to Cambodia tomorrow. I have been to Cambodia a couple of times, and almost all of them are for volunteer purposes.

Cambodia’s long history of violence and conflict, both internally and externally has contributed to the current poverty situation. Most notably in Cambodia’s troubled history was the Khmer Rouge regime and a period of occupation under Vietnam’s communist leaders from 1980 to 1989. As such, it was not until recently did the political situation in Cambodia settled down. Since then, its economy has been growing from strength to strength, driven by the expansion in the garment, construction, tourism and agricultural sector. The last I checked, 31 % of the population in Cambodia living in poverty which means they are earning less than US$1 per day.
The rural citizens are the people who have the least access to education, health and other public services because of poor infrastructures and lack of government investment in areas where it matters most

But the people there are welcoming and they are happy to see us. Guess there have been numerous assistance and volunteers from all over the world came to help the unfortunate and needy in Cambodia. Well, i am sure to post some pictures and updates.

This time, we have a bigger group of volunteers and I am looking forward to a hellava fun with the children in Cambodia !!!!

See you !
